"I was diagnosed with cancer in July 1998 and when I was told that I was to have chemotherapy and that I would lose all of my hair, I started looking for a wig. I went to several places, but was not satisfied with the products and the service.

On going through the list of delaers in wigs, I came upon Accuhair and met Eugene Guido. My husband and I were impressed with the service that was given to us in explaining the various types of wigs that were available in the market. "I’m writing this letter to thank you for your wonderful help over the past few months. As you know, I am a 40 year old woman who was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. I began very aggressive chemotherapy treatments 2 days after meeting my oncologist so had very little time to prepare for losing my hair. I was told that due to the drugs involved, there was no question I would lose all of my long, healthy hair. You and I first spoke a week after my treatments began and you immediately went to work to help me.

During our first meeting, you offered guidance on the benefits and drawbacks of the different types of wigs. I chose to go with two different hair pieces – a long, human hair wig and a custom fringe piece made with some of my own hair. After our initial meeting, you went in search of a wig which closely matched my natural hair colour and length and you were able to provide me with a couple of different wigs to try.

At the first sign of my hair falling out I requested your help to cut it off. This was extremely difficult for me but you did make it easier. With my husband and mother by my side, your in-home salon afforded us privacy with no other clients present and you showed real compassion in your handling of the situation. (As you are aware, even after we set aside some hair for my fringe, with your careful help I was able to donate my uncoloured, unpermed hair to a program which makes wigs for kids who have lost their hair due to illness.)

Once we selected the wig you did an initial cut but then coached me to wear it for a little while, get used to it and then return for the final trim. Those were wise words and I ended up very pleased with both the wig and the fringe. From the styling tips you offered, the maintenance of both pieces and the turbans you also provided, you proved to be a true professional."
